-Livi Moehn Anti-Valentine The table is set, the candles are lit... I don't have a date, because I lack charm and wit. No roses. No chocolates, No little black boxes. Just a dinner for two plus the 'me,' minus the 'you.' I'm not gonna text, I won't even look, but you can expect a poke on that Facebook. More and more dessert for me turning on a romantic comedy... So I'll cuddle alone, without a bloke and Laugh Out Loud when I make a joke. Valentine's Day is stupid, not gonna believe in that guy they call Cupid. I'll stick with my violets of blue... Having an Anti-Valentine's Day, plus the 'me,' minus the 'you.' -Natalie Pettigrew My First Crush It's hard to express the feeling It's hard to describe the words I did not know what to expect I was going only on what I had heard I do know the anticipation of what Was about to happen was Froth with nerves and raving thoughts But when it hit me I did not expect The sting, the shiver and all The emotions it brought My enthusiasm, excitment, and all The rest was hard to throttle You see my first crush, now unforbidden Was orange and in a glass bottle. -Mr. R. Bachman I remember that time... I remember that time Back in the first grade At seven years old I thought I had it made His name was Jacob His eyes were sky-blue And sort of seemed To pierce right through you. I was too young To know it wasn’t real But I was caught up In that warm fuzzy feel. I remembered his hair In chocolate brown He was the cutest boy In this one-horse town. What I loved most of all Was when he colored He stayed inside the lines He was not like the others. I followed him around In a giddy little rush With little plaid jumpers And a sparkly hair brush With my braided pigtails And his Converse All-Stars I really did think that we would go far. But he didn’t notice me In his Little League rush But I’ll never forget That very first crush. And even today As I flip those Big Macs I remember a time Of plastic train tracks. A time when the Earth Did not seem so sad Where all things were good And nothing was bad. -Julia Wiegand She was in the air She was in the air I was standing there in awe Her name was...football -Jason Bogdan Barriers Hands that move in smooth gymnastics, Expressing words and thoughts I can't interpret. I say that I like the way his Hair is curling Around his ears, But he doesn't hear. He never does. We stand so close, But in different worlds. No matter how I yell, He can never know How I feel. -Renee Kurtz My sweet, my love My sweet, my love, my passion burns for you. My heart feels like a dove My emotions are so true. You always are there, in times of happiness and joy, In the pain and despair, To me, you'll never annoy. You go well with anyone But yet, you've chosen me Some don't understand, they make fun. I know that we're to be. You're my life; my entire being You ignite my strife kindle my believing. -Josh Rauh | ||||||||||||
